Wetassa Chapter
hosted the Winter Banquet on January 9 with 150 plus members in
attendance at Eagles Hall in Freeport, IL. The previous days
presented us with over 10 inches of snowfall and sub-zero
temperatures making the trip to memorable. A dinner of fried
chicken, roast beef, corn, mashed potatoes, salad and chocolate
brownies rounded out a great feast. Guest speaker, Mr.
Jim Boeger spoke about his 40 years of Scouting and his 23 years of
being a Scoutmaster. Mr. Boeger spoke on his Scoutmaster’s rewarding
and meaningful opportunities as well the challenges that all
Scoutmasters can reflect on during their tenure as an adult leader. Lodge Chief, Dan Dick, recognized the Lodge Executive Committee, Youth and Adults, that came together to achieve the goals set out at the beginning of the year in Fall of 2008. This resulted in achieving the goal of “Quality Lodge”. This is the first time that Wulapeju Lodge 140 has attained this recognition of “ Quality Lodge”. The recognition was accomplished with the intense promotion of Brotherhood Conversion, the one requirement, which had eluded the accomplishment of our goal. In celebration of this event, an engraved toasting glass was presented to all attending members of the Winter Banquet. During a toast with non-alcoholic sparkling juices, all celebrated in this Lodge first. The newest Founder’s Award Recipient in Wulapeju Lodge 140 was presented to, Chapter Chief, Eric Wonneberger of Kishwaukee Chapter. Recognitions were also given to the newest Ordeal Members and to the Brotherhood conversion members sealing their membership in the Order of the Arrow. |
